Srinagar, Mar 26 (KNO): The family of the deceased COVID-19 patient has alleged that they were being victimized for hiding his travel history, which is totally baseless.

According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the relatives of the patient said that they are being victimized for hiding his travel history.

Dr. Zafar Anim who is the nephew of the deceased said that it was quite unfortunate that they were being victimized for hiding the travel history which is absolutely a baseless allegation. He said that the patient and the family members have informed the authorities about everything including travel history of the patient.

"On 18th March I had a discussion on phone with the senior specialist of SKIMS about the patient and I also revealed his travel history. The doctor advised medication and isolation although I was of the opinion to screen the patient in view of his travel history but was refused," he said.

He said that they then kept the patient under home quarantine but he was not improving so we took him to JVC on 21st March where they again revealed the travel history and on the basis of travel history and symptoms he was referred to SKIMS for covid screening.

"So we took him to COVID clinic where we again revealed the travel history in detail and resident doctor discussed the case with the seniors who advised home quarantine and medication although I requested them to screen him for COVID but was refused in view of no international travel as per the guidelines that time, " he said.

He said that then he met the senior doctor at SKIMS and requested him to screen the patient but was again refused because thepatienti did not have international travel history, history, he advised for home quarantine.

"So I took a decision to put him under home quarantine but he condition was deteriorating at home. Then next morning I again called the senior specialist on 22nd March and he advised me to take the patient to JVC," he said.

Dr. Zafar said that they were absolutely helpless so they took him to SMHS where again they revealed the travel history. "So on the basis of travel history they suspected COVID and the resident had a discussion with his senior consultant about the symptoms and travel history which is all documented and was referred to CD Hospital."

He said that at CD hospital he was immediately admitted and kept in isolation and screening for COVID_19 was done the same day.

Dr. Zafar said that he was the most pious person in their family as he had left all the worldly things. "Today morning he passed away, leaving the family devastated in this helpless situation," he said – (KNO)
